“Starlink is currently available in your area. Customers in your region typically see download speeds of 50-200 Mbps. No contracts, 30-day trial,” the company said.
“Shipping times are currently estimated to be 1 to 2 weeks from order… N19,260/month for service and N274,098 for hardware.”
Starlink’s speed is its selling point:
The company said on its website that Nigerians on Starlink will see download speeds of 50-200 Mbps. One of the early users of the service in Nigeria, Bello Gbadebo had attested to speed saying that he got about 20Mbps on the initial test and it went up to about 240Mbps afterward.
Recently, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, stated that the country had achieved 100 percent broadband coverage following the licensing and operation of Starlink.
He said, “Based on the National Broadband Plan, we were to have 90 percent broadband coverage by December 2025. However, we recently gave a license to Starlink to provide services, and this has given us 100% coverage, about 3 years ahead of schedule.”
While Starlink has now commenced operations in Nigeria, there are concerns about how its high price will hinder the ability of citizens to access its services.
